The Medical Field For The Health Care System - 1631 Words
If hospitals and clinics would accurately charge for the items and manpower that surgeries took, the medical field would be more honest, and much more affordable for the average American. The rampant over charging of Americans in the health care system is simply unacceptable when other first world countries have widespread or even free health care for their citizens. The act of closing a wound with a needle and thread is an ancient procedure, and a comparatively cheap procedure. However, with todayââ¬â¢s perversion of health care pricing a procedure as simple as 3 stitches in one s forehead could cost almost $3,000. Every year, these outrageous hospital charge account for almost one third of the spending in the American Health Care billââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦EpiPen, which is an auto-injector of epinephrine is extremely crucial and parents have to buy it in an emergency situation (Rosenthal 2). While the actual medicine is very cheap and has been used for many years, the design of an EpiPen, which injects the medicine into the body has allowed the company to get the patent and increase its price. Price hike was very dramatic, reaching $600 for two pens which expire after a year. It has been observed that the level of allergies has been rising, which only benefits the company. So, what allows these companies to price drugs as they want? Obviously a lack of regulation. American government believes that allowing companies to have a patent and prize the food as they want encourages them to put a lot of money in RD because they know that once they have a product, they can enjoy monopoly power and get huge profits. So, the idea is that if government intervenes, companies will be discouraged from inventing new remedies (Rosenthal 2). Is that reasonable and justifiable answer? Obviously the more profit they can make, the more incentivized they are to invent something, but will decreasing their profits slightly really discourage them from producing? While they can keep the patents, they could try setting an upper bound to the price they can charge will help consumers buy the good that they need. The Antagonist, Shakespeare - 1405 Words
Tales and stories have been told since the beginning of time, handed down from each generation to the next, and each story has left its mark on the listener even if it is not apparent. Parts of the story are remembered and it is the goal of an author or storyteller to leave an impact of each who hears their tale. The idea is to have a plot interesting enough to hold the attention and then to develop conflict those experiencing will remember. Part of the way this is accomplished is through the characters, not always the protagonist, but the antagonist as well. The villain of the story is an individual the audience will pay close attention to and attempt to understand as the storyline unfolds. ââ¬Å"Thereââ¬â¢s something about antagonists that, Iâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Oberon will order Puck to place the juice of a certain flower of the eyes of an Athenian man. It was common up until the quite recently to send all students with physical and mental disabilities to special education classes. Special education classes separate the special needs students from their nondurable peers and there was hardly ever any colonization between the two. There are many students with disabilities that can learn in a regular or inclusive classroom. Students with disabilities are often treated differently and this affects the quality of their education. I believe all students should be taught with the best material and technologies available. No matter their race, gender, religion ability, each student deserves a high quality education. Causes of American Revolution Essay Example For Students
Causes of American Revolution Essay The haphazard and disorganized British rule of the American colonies in thedecade prior to the outbreak led to the Revolutionary War. The mismanagementof the colonies, the taxation policies that violated the colonist rights, thedistractions of foreign wars and politics in England and mercantilist policies thatbenefited the English to a much greater degree then the colonists all show theBritish incompetence in their rule over the colonies. These policies anddistractions were some of the causes of the Revolutionary War. The interests of England within the colonies were self-centered. The Englishwere exploiting were trying to govern the colonies by using the mercantilistsystem. Mercantilism is when the state directs all the economic activities withinits borders(Blum 31). England was not attempting to make any changes thatwould help the colonists. They limited the colonies commerce to internal tradeonly(Miller 9). The English were exploiting the colonies by demanding that thecolonies imp ort more from England then they exported to the colonies. Theywere importing raw materials from the colonies and making them into exportablegoods in England. They would then ship these goods to foreign markets allaround the world including the colonies(America Online ). Throughout theseventeenth century the English saw America as a place to get materials theydidnt have at home and a market to sell finished products at after the goods hadbeen manufactured. This was detrimental to the colonies because it preventedthem from manufacturing any of the raw materials they produced and made themIn addition to the unrest caused by their mercantilist policies, domestic politicalissues distracted them from the activities of the colonies. Throughout the sixteenhundreds, Great Britain was more involved in solving the Constitutional issue ofwho was to have more power in English government, the king or parliament. When this complex issue was finally resolved in the Glorious Revolution of 1688,England turned its attention back to the colonies and found that colonists haddeveloped their own identity as American. There was no central office in England to control what was happening in thecolonies. The executive authority in England was divided among severalministers and commissioners that did not act quickly or in unison. Also, theBoard of Trade, the branch of government that knew more about the coloniesthan any other governing body in England, did not have the power to makedecisions or to enforce decrees. Due to the distractions from the complexconstitutional issues and ineffective governmental organization the colonists feltfurther separated from England(Blum 51). The political scene in England was laced with corruption. Officers of thegovernment sent to the colonies were often bribe-taking politicians that were notsmart enough to hold government positions in England. After Grenville andTownshen d the most incompetent was Lord North, who became Prime Ministerin 1770 after the death of Charles Townshend. North was the kind of politicianGeorge had been looking for -a plodding, dogged, industrious man, neither afool nor a genius, much like the king himself. For the next twelve years, despitethe opposition of abler men, he remained at the head of the government(Blum104). Corruption and incompetence among governing politicians often madetheir rule over the colonies ineffective. In the years leading up to the final decade before the American Revolution, therelationship between Great Britain and her colonies in North America continuedto deteriorate. Relations began to worsen with the great victory over the Frenchand Indians in the Seven Years War. Unwelcome British troops had remained inthe colonies. Debts from this war caused the Prime Minister at the time, LordGrenville, to enforce Mercantilism in an effort to get the colonists to pay theirshare of the national debt that had dou bled since 1754(Blum 95). England passed many Acts that were ill conceived and had long term effects onthe relationship between England and the colonies. The most controversial ofthese were direct taxes. The last time Parliament had tried a direct tax was asrecent as 1765, when Lord Grenville enacted the Stamp Act which forced thecolonists to pay for stamps on printed documents, the Stamp Act(Higginbotham34). The Americans had felt the taxes of Lord Grenville were a deliberate aim todisinherit the colonists by denying them the rights of the English(Blum 96). Thefirst of these acts were the Townshend Acts. The Townshend Acts were passedin 1767 and placed new taxes on paper, paints, tea, lead and, glass. The newtaxes would be used to pay for British officials in the American service. Theseacts infuriated the colonists because they believed that Parliament had the rightto put taxes on the trade of the colonies but could not place taxes directly on thecolonists to raise revenue(America Online). The spokesperson of the colonies, John Dickinson, wrote in his Letters of aPennsylvania Farmer, on the issue of direct taxes. He distinguished betweentaxes that were imposed to regulate trade and those that were intended solely toraise revenue. If the tax was used to promote commerce it was justifiable, but ifthe tax was used only to gain revenue it was not viewed as a legitimatetax(America Online). The colonists believed that this new tax was not legitimateand therefore there was strong opposition to it throughout the colonies. By 1766 England backed off in their efforts to tax their colonies. Following a yearof opposition from the colonists England revoked the Stamp Act and the firstQuartering Act, but they still passed the Declaratory Act (History Place). In 1766the Declaratory Act was passed. It was passed the same day that the Stamp Actwas repealed. The Declaratory Act gave the English government total power topass laws to govern the colonies. The British claimed that the colonies hadalways been and should always be subject to the British crown(Blum 99). In 1773 the Tea Act was passed. The Tea Act not only put a three penny perpound tax on tea but it also gave the British East India Company a nearmonopoly because it allowed the company to sell directly to the colonial agentsavoiding any middlemen. In Boston the colonists held a town meeting to try toget their Tea Agents to resign. The Tea Agents would not resign and a fewmonths later angered Bostonians dressed as Indians boarded three tea shipsand dumped it all into Boston Harbor(Blum 106). In 1774 the intolerable Acts were passed. They were passed as a way toreprimand the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party. This didnt go over well inBoston because both the innocent and the guilty were being punishedequally(America Online). There were five acts within the Intolerable Acts. TheMassachusetts Government Act, a new Quartering Act, the Administration ofJustice Act the Quebec Act and the closing of th e port of Boston. TheMassachusetts Government Act said that the Governors council had to beappointed by the King and limited town meetings to one per year. The newQuartering Act, authorized the quartering of troops within a town (instead of inthe barracks provided by the colony) whenever their commanding officersthought it desirable. The Administration of Justice Act stated that, anygovernment or customs officer indicted for murder could be tried in England, beyond the control of local juries. The Quebec Act was not intended to be usedas a punishment of the colonists, rather to extend the boundaries of the provinceof Quebec to the Ohio River and give the Roman Catholics in that provincereligious liberty and the double protection of French and English law. But theQuebec Act actually angered the colonists because the colonists living inQuebec were getting rights that the Americans felt were being taken away fromDuring these years of ineffective rule, the causes of the Revolutionary War emerged. Laws and policies enacted were self-serving, causing the colonists tovigorously resist and try to avoid British authority. The colonists moves towardreligious and commercial self-determination were overlooked while Englanddealt with the Seven years war and a domestic political crisis. All these factorshighlighted the differences and miscalculations of the British and were thebeginnings of the Revolutionary War. .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .postImageUrl , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:hover , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:visited , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:active { border:0!important; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:active , .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70 .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub88157a414f1bfedb16a95bc179aae70:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Sleep Deprivation EssayBibliography:Blum, John M. Top 5 Ways To Settle Down Essay Example For Students
Top 5 Ways To Settle Down Essay In a world where music plays serious enough of a role to people that they act out what they hear, no lyrics can be taken lightly. It can be so easy to relate to someone elses stories that it is even possible to be drawn into the same emotions expressed by the musician. If High Fidelity were a pop song, it would be sappy in connection to love, depressing in connection to heartbreak and it would be uplifting in connection to settling down. High Fidelity represents mans struggle to grow up, settle down, and at the same time, not feel like he or she is simply settling for what he or she can get. We will write a custom essay on Top 5 Ways To Settle Down specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The use of pasting the chronology of Rob Gordons life played by John Cusack in random order throughout the film helps give perspective on his struggles with relationships and figuring out exactly what he wants in his life. Spike Jonze incorporates several clever metaphors for Rob Gordons constant debacle of relationships and ability to settle down through a comedic approach to the somewhat depressing storyline. By utilizing metaphoric symbols, fluctuating the storyline and making the supporting cast subplots thematically related to Robs life, Spike Jonze conveys a well-produced theme of love, heartbreak and settling down in relation to the effect of music in High Fidelity. The storyline of a movie is what makes piecing the puzzle of a plot together dramatic all the way until the end of the movie. Spike Jonze takes the many different time periods of Rob Gordons life and places them sporadically throughout High Fidelity in order to provide heavier drama and thicken the plot into a melodramatic climax. The plot of the movie is developed in three parts, also known as the Syd Field Model in which the Three Act Paradigm is used. The movie begins in the present of Robs life where he is breaking up with Laura. This scene brings about the idea behind the theme of the whole movie, Robs Top 5 lists. In Robs first Top 5 list, his five most memorable breakups are told to the viewer and this sets up the way in which the rest of the movie is schemed out. As High Fidelity is not planned out specifically, everything that happens in the movie happens at the point it does for a reason. In the first part of the movie, Rob switches between explaining his top five breakups, learning about his life at Championship Vinyl and his dramatic relationship with Laura. This section of the movie portrays all of the hardships Rob has faced with girls throughout his life, while a subplot directly refers the viewer to how music has influenced his emotions. In the beginning of the movie, Rob says Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable or was I miserable because I listened to pop music? The true influence of music on Robs life is brought out once again in his ownership of a record store and more blatantly uncovered when he decides to reorganize his overflowing record collection by the autobiography of his life. The jumps in the movie denoted to Robs life are filled up by more stories of past girls on Robs Top 5 list of worst breakups. This first section of the movie is meant to make the viewer feel certain sympathy towards Robs character because he is very easy to relate to. In the second portion of High Fidelity, Rob continues to suffer from missing Laura and to comfort himself, he flashes back to the past once again to find an answer to his problems. During this period, Rob has a new girl whom he is hooking up with, a new found problem dealing with Laura having a new boyfriend, conflict with realization of fault with Laura, and most importantly, the idea that if he finds out the reasoning behind all of his Top 5 breakups that he will be fulfilled and able to move on. This section indicate that Rob is soul-searching and praying that an answer to why he cant maintain a serious relationship will arise. Once again Spike Jonze focuses very much on how Rob handled breakups in the past maintaining that the past cannot be dwelled upon. .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .postImageUrl , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:hover , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:visited , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:active { border:0!important; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:active , .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0 .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0513d7229b42feed5593ebfd058eadf0:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Music and Concert Essay ThesisIn the third and final act of the movie, tough times bring Rob and Laura back together. It is only when he meets another woman that he then realizes why he must settle down and concentrate on building a future with Laura. Also in this final section, Laura has Rob play a gig as a DJ like back in his old days. This time Rob is releasing new material being symbolic of him starting over. Robs asking Laura to marry him carries the film over its hump at the climax leaving Rob less confused and much more sure of what kind of future he wants. The final act of this film helps demonstrate the theme of this film by point Rob in the right direction with s ettling down and building a future in his mind. Subplots are created in movies to help add meaning to and develop the plot more precisely. In High Fidelity, Spike Jonze utilizes the identities and personalities of several of the supporting actors to relate to Robs struggle in finding himself. Two of the main supporting characters create a few subplots on their own providing evidence to Rob that no matter how different peoples personalities may be, everyone shares the same idea of growing up and settling down. Barry, played by Jack Black, plays an over enthused, trouble-making employee at Robs record store. Throughout the movie Barry cuts down other peoples music tastes making it appear as if he knows more than others, therefore he is better. This correlates indirectly to Robs struggle to find a solid relationship whereas Rob searches out to prove that the women from his Top 5 breakup list were all wrong and that he never made any mistakes because he knows how to handle relationships better than anyone. In a scene where Barry refuses to sell a record to a customer because he is a geek, Lewis, a friend of Rob, Barry and Dicks refers to them as snobs symbolizing Robs snobbish ways of looking back on past relationships. Lewis says, You guys are snobsyou are totally elitists. You feel like the unappreciated scholars so you shit on the people who know less than youwhich is everybody. Later on in the movie as the plot becomes better developed, a passer by of Championship Vinyl responds to a sign in the window that Barry put up as Rob says 17,000 years ago. When Rob confronts Barry about this encounter later, Barry does not make a big deal out of it and simply responds by saying, What, did you think I was gonna stick around here the rest of my life? Not only does this focus in on the fact that moving on and settling down matter to everyone, but also, the way that Barry handles it so nonchalant is done to show Rob that one can not just jump right into new things and assume that everything will work out the way he or she expects. This is trying to show that patience is necessary for something to be successful. Coming out of this scene, Robs other employee Dick has met a girl and must leave to go out with her. He sees Dick hugging a girl as he leaves and it makes him sad that he is so alone. At this point, both Barry and Dick leave and tell Rob that they will not be able to go out tonight. This declares Robs loneliness as well as his need to find something to settle down with in life. Vince and Justin, two juvelnile shoplifters at Robs store, but who also write and record music play another subplot created by supporting cast. Vince and Justin at first show they have no promise as people by coming into Robs store and shoplifting several records. .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .postImageUrl , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:hover , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:visited , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:active { border:0!important; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:active , .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712 .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ude5d484cf407eec5f8940f1138e4d712:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Studies Have Shown That Music Enhances EssayWhen Rob hears their music being played in his record store, he goes in search of them and offers to put out their record on his label. By offering to them that he will put out their record, it symbolizes forgiving and especially shows that it is important to look beyond peoples flaws. Robs employees and the two skater kids create a strong subplot as supporting characters by indirectly referring to what Rob needs to change in his life.

The remuneration package is in the range of à £18,000 to 24,000 per annum plus excellent benefits. The job role is described as follows:Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Customer Service Coordination specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The Marketing Executive must prepare and deliver the marketing plan, on time and on budget on an annual basis using liaison with other departments where necessary. The marketing plan includes all the traditional element of the marketing mix, including advertising, tradeshows and exhibitions, public relations, direct mail, search engine optimization, literature and promotional items. Some of the items will be external and require management of third parties (Turner, 2011, p.1). Assessment There is no need to be a mathematical genius to take on this job. But t he application of numeracy for this job is in professional level. Team work is very crucial for this job. I need to establish a professional relationship with the people I am working with. At the same time I need to master self-management because part of the job requires the preparation and delivery of a marketing plan. Business and customer awareness is necessary in order to create an appropriate marketing plan. It also requires a high level of computer literacy in order to use the computer not only to develop the plan but also to deal with search engine optimization needs. Problem solving skills are required because there is a need to interact with heads of various departments. Thus, communication and literacy must be at a professional level. My main problem here is the lack of experience when it comes to the advertising aspect of the job.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Finally, the job requires effective interrogation and monitoring of management information related complaints, the identification of emerging trends and delivery of root cause analysis of complaints (FPSG Connect, 2011, p.1). Assessment The application of numeracy is in the professional level. Team work is also an important concept to master because this job requires interaction with other people working on the same problem. Self-management is needed in order to pace oneself when it comes to pr oviding time and accurate reports. It also important to have business and customer awareness in order to develop an effective root causes analysis of problems. Communication and literacy skills are dependent on the software used by the company. This also affects the other factors such as problem solving skills and application of IT. The only hurdle in this job is to become familiar with the software and that can be accomplished with a few weeks of training after hiring. Customer Service Coordinator The customer service coordinator is the first person seen by the customers entering the office. The salary for this job is à £13,500 to 18,000. Team work is needed but it only requires minimal effort because the work load is not that difficult. Self-management on the other hand is the key factor because the coordinator must be self-aware all the time in relation to the environment and the needs of the customers. Business and customer awareness is also an important factor as this is the area that the employer would measure when it comes to being effective as coordinator. Application of IT, problem solving and communication and literacy only requires the minimum application. This mean s that the job does not require technical and specialised skills in these areas. I have the skills set to accomplish all of the above. Lending Assistant ââ¬â Banking This job requires the applicant to work closely with the Business Manager of the said bank. The salary is à £18,500 per annum. The job role is described as follows: Assist Business Manager to prepare credit proposals for new and existing borrowing customers. Assessment The application of numeracy is at a professional level. This is related to the application of IT because the job requires mastery of the use of software applications such as spreadsheets etc. Team work is not a primary concern because the j ob basically centres on the need to assist the Business Manager. However, business and customer awareness is an important part of the job requirement because it is impossible to prepare credit reviews without this skills set. Problem solving, communication and literacy is a skill that is developed after a few weeks of spending time with the Business Manager as I try to master a system unique to the organisation.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? This requires understanding of mathematical formulas that would result in generating data used in balance sheets and profit and loss accounts. At the same time the IT application factor is related to the use of software such as spreadsheets and whatever system the bank is using to integrate all pertinent information into one report. Team work is an important concept to master but there is no need to learn how to manage a group because the position requires an assistant role to the Senior Business Banking Manager. Business and customer awareness is needed to address customer needs. The same is true when it comes to problem solving and communication and literacy. These are needed to provide excellent service. Reflective Assessment In any struggle, the battle is half won by those who come prepared (Dikel Roeh m, 2006). Job hunting and applying for a certain position can be compared to a battle, an intense mental and emotional struggle (Gordon, 2009). It is therefore important that the applicant is armed with a well written curriculum vitae (Knaus, 2010). But a curriculum vitae cannot be assembled correctly if the applicant is unable to determine employability skills (Woodward, 2004). It is imperative to undergo a self-assessment exercise in order to determine suitability for a particular job. It is even helpful to know not only the capability of the individual but also the things that interest him or her (Turner, 2006). It would be difficult to thrive and succeed in a job that creates so much unhappiness for the worker. These things have to be internalised before going on a job hunt. If all these things are in order then it is easier to look for a job that can be satisfying and fulfilling for the job seeker. References A4e Limited. (2011). Customer Service Coordinator. Philosophy As The Origin Of Every Sort Of Knowledge Term Paper
Philosophy As The Origin Of Every Sort Of Knowledge - Term Paper Example Philosophy is the origin of every sort of knowledge even though we have different streams of knowledge at present like, arts, sciences, mathematics etc. In order to give respect to philosophy, even now a doctoral student gets the degree of doctor of philosophy even if he has completed his doctoral studies in other subjects like physics, chemistry or history. Earlier, it was the philosophers who interpreted various things happening around them to the world. For example, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes were some of the prominent philosophers of ancient time who succeeded in educating the people about the various natural and unnatural things happening around them. This paper tries to answer questions like; Is philosophy practical? Can we ever really know anything? Is there ultimately objectivity to ethics? Is happiness really possible in our world? Is there, after all a god? What is the good life? etc. Many people feel philosophy is remote from human life because it deals with lon g time spans, immense areas of space, and matters which cannot always be perceived by the senses. A philosophy which meets the needs of men will both reflect the structure of nature accurately and apply to man's everyday experience. In order for such ideas to be helpful practically, they must descend from the realms of theoretical debate to become an intimate part of the person himself. They must be absorbed into the whole person rather than being, like a fact about the migration of birds, stored away in some corner of the brain (Is philosophy practical?)... Philosophy is all about asking questions and finding answers. It is difficult to get 100% correct answers to all the questions asked. Questions which get 100% correct or absolute answers can be put under the label of practical philosophy. For example, we know currently that earth is rotating around the sun and that is why day and night occurs. In other words rotation of earth is proved beyond doubt and hence we can put it under the practical philosophy label. However, we do not know what happens to our soul after our death. Religions have different teachings about the future of soul based on certain beliefs. It is difficult to put this topic under practical philosophy label. In short, philosophy can sometimes practical and sometimes impractical. Can we ever really know anything? What we know about this universe is much lesser than what we do not know about this world. Even scientific principles are undergoing changes at time passes. For example, earlier we assumed that sun is moving while earth remains stationary, later we concluded that the earth is moving and the sun remains stationery. According to the latest scientific principles, both earth and the sun are moving and we do not feel the movement of sun because of the huge size of sun compared to earth. Same way earlier, we thought that electricity is the flow of protons and we represent the direction electricity from anode to cathode or from positive terminal to the negative terminal. Later we realize that electricity is nothing but flow electrons and it is impossible for electrons to flow from anode to cathode. In short, scientific principles are undergoing changes periodically and it is foolishness to assume that we know something about

Final - Assignment Example As the rate of globalization goes high in the United States, the developing countries also look forward to get them same effects of globalization. Thus, the United States of America has to play a major role in facilitating development in the third world countries. United States created two international institutions which aim at developing all the countries in the world. The two institutions are World Trade Organization (WTO) formed in 19951. The main function of the World Trade organization was to settle all the trade disputes among the countries in the world. The second organization is the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which was formed after World War II. The events of the war destroyed most of the countriesââ¬â¢ resources, and something had to be done to revolve their economy. The International Monetary Fund provided emergency loans to countries. After the events of World War II, the United States of America plays a major role in shaping the economy of the world. Thus, to ensure that other countries develop, they have to incorporate all the aspects of globalization. They have to advance the living standards and ensure that there is stability in the worldââ¬â¢s economy. The policy makers have to come up with policies that promote globalization in all the countries, which is a great challenge2. Consequently, some of the third world countries cannot adapt globalization because of factors such as illiteracy and poverty. The United States has first to work on the two major challenges before introducing globalization in those countries. Thus, they need resources to ensure that they provide all the basic needs required and improve their education sector. Finance is needed to carry out all these activities, making it a great challenge. Globalization has resulted in a faster exchange of ideas among the countries. Criminals use the advanced technology to communicate over a long

Whether Differences in Flexible Working Practices Constitute a Barrier Research Paper
Whether Differences in Flexible Working Practices Constitute a Barrier to Multinational Corporations - Research Paper Example It is notable that most multinational corporations are experiencing the cross-national transfer of human resource practices in the expansive and widely spread subsidiaries. Flexible working human resource practices are becoming common in most corporations across the world. This practice involves flexible working arrangements in which the employers and employees agree on the flexible way of approaching work. Multi-national corporations and companies adopt this practice to attract a wide range of skills for flexible working positions (Romer 2011). These policies enhance employees to juggle their personal lives and work, this enables workers to be able to work at their convenience in any location. This approach of doing work within this flexibility varies from different employers and employees across subsidiaries in various countries (Ester 2008). Work-life balance practices in corporations are designed to enhance employees to be able to balance their work and their commitments with oth er personal responsibilities (Flechl 2010). Most companies have adopted these policies because of the positive impact on the employeeââ¬â¢s motivation both in the workplace and away from work. In addition, these policies are essential in conflict minimization thus influencing positively employee experience in their personal life and performance at work (Batt 2003). These policies generally minimize conflicts between work and the commitments of family. Therefore, ascribing from this it can be argued that multinational companies adopt these policies to enhance employee satisfaction. As stated earlier that most companies have expanded to overseas markets opening subsidiaries and branches there are urgent issues to design the overall human resource system to fit into the context of these countries.Ã

Ethical Hacking And Attacking Computer Science Essay
Ethical Hacking And Attacking Computer Science Essay It is debatable, if hacking can be ethical or not, the term Hacking over time has been associated with destructive activity. These are some of the terms used in the context of hacking which provides better clarity, Hacker is somebody who enjoys learning hacking for a defensive purpose; an ethical hacker is the security professional who exercises his skills for a defensive purpose. The term Cracker refers to a person who uses his hacking skills for destructive purpose. The ethical question here is in regard to the physical activity of hacking which is sometimes hard to differentiate from cracking. The main difference being, Ethical hacker just identifies vulnerabilities and does not exploit them unlike a cracker. Ethical hacking is the process adopted by ethical hackers to discover the vulnerabilities existing in information systems operating environments. With the growth of internet, computer security has become a major concern for business. Organizations need ethical hackers who can think like a cracker to simulate a real life hacking scenario; they make use of same tools and techniques of that of crackers without damaging / compromising the sensitive information thereby maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the organization. Ethical hacker should have excellent programming and networking skills. They evaluate the security of target and update the organization regarding the discovered vulnerabilities along with recommendations to mitigate them. Anatomy of a Hack Initially, Hacking meant having extraordinary skills to break into the system. However today there are lots of automated freeware tools available on internet making it possible for anybody having the desire to hack succeed in breaking into the system. These are the 5 phases every hacker must know. Figure 1: Anatomy of an Attack Reconnaissance Reconnaissance is the preparatory phase where an attacker gathers information about the target system prior to launching the attack. This phase might also involve network scanning either internal or external without any authorization. One of the ways for gathering information during this phase may involve Social engineering. A social engineer is a person who smooth-talks and persuades people to reveal personal / sensitive information such as passwords, security policies etc. Social engineering is one of the easiest ways to hack as it requires no technical skills and one of the hardest forms of attack to defend against as humans are the weakest link in the security chain. All security measures taken care by the organization goes in vain when the employees get social engineered. Detecting social engineering attacks are difficult, as there is no tool to detect such attempts, in most of the cases victim themselves are not aware having revealed sensitive information. Rebecca and Jessica are the common terms used, which refer to people who are easy target for social engineering attacks such as a receptionist or a support executive. Dumpster diving is another way of gathering information. It is the process of looking for discarded sensitive information in an organization thrash. It is one of the effective ways of gathering information as it may provide attackers with even more sensitive information such as username, password, ATM slip, social security number, Bank statements. It is important that an organization has appropriate policies in place to protect their assets and also provide proper guidance to employees on the same. Reconnaissance technique can be classified into active and passive reconnaissance. In passive reconnaissance, the attacker does not interact with the system directly but uses social engineering or dumpster diving as a mean to gather information. Where as in a active reconnaissance, the attacker makes use of tools for port scanning, network scanning to get the details of the application, operating system etc. Often reconnaissance phase overlaps with the scanning phase. Scanning Scanning precedes the actual attack and is one of the important phase of information gathering where in the attacker gathers information about the targets IP address , operating system , system architecture , services running in the system in order to find various ways to intrude into targets system. The strategy to launch the attack is based on the gathered information. The risk of an organization is considered high in the scanning phase as it enables access to the network. Different types of scanning are Port Scanning: Procedure for identifying the open ports and the services running on the target system. Network Scanning -Procedure for identifying IP addresses, active hosts on a network either to attack them or as a network security assessment. Vulnerability Scanning -Automates method to identify the known vulnerabilities present in the system and the network. Some of the important tools used during this phase are Nmap which is used for port scanning; it also offers a variety of advanced features such as remote OS detection. Nessus is a vulnerability scanner which detects the local flaws, uninstalled patches and weakness in network hosts. Nessus has a security vulnerability database which is updated on a daily basis. It carries out development of security checks for recent security holes. CEH scanning methodology The diagram below shows the sequence of steps followed in order to scan any network although scanning method may differ based on the objective of the attack. The Attacker starts with checking for the live systems in the network. Once he finds the live system, looks for any open port present in the system to identify the services running on it. The next phase is OS fingerprinting which is nothing but gathering operating system information about the target system. Post which the attacker scans for vulnerabilities present in the target operating system and exploit it. The attacker may also choose to probe the network by making use of proxies. Figure 2: CEH Scanning Methodology Gaining Access This is one of the most important phases for an attack as this is where the actual attack is planted. Therefore the business risk is highest in this phase. Although not a mandatory phase as an attacker need not always gain access to cause damage like in denial of service attacks. The main aim in this phase is to obtain elevated privileges such as system privilege to execute commands to access sensitive information. Maintaining Access Once the attacker gains access into the system or the network, he tries to retain his ownership on the compromised system and periodically attack it. Typically in this phase the attacker tries to install Key loggers to capture the keyboard strokes, sniffers to capture network traffic, rootkits at the kernel level to gain super user access and Trojan horse to gain repeated backdoor access, also download the password files to access the system at a later time. Once the Trojans are in place, the attacker can assume to have gained total control of the system. During this phase the attackers might even harden the system against other attackers by fixing the vulnerability which allowed them to access the system or the network. Clearing Tracks This is where the attacker tries to cover the evidence of his activities for various reasons like maintaining access or legal actions. During this phase the attacker deletes the system logs preventing the system administrator from monitoring the unusual activity, Rootkits are installed as they are effective in covering tracks and also because in some cases they disable logging. Other techniques like Steganography which is used to hide the data in a image or a file, are made used by the attacker in order to cover tracks Typical Hacking Techniques There are several ways an attacker can gain access into the system such as Operating system attacks Application Level attacks Shrink wrap code error Misconfiguration attacks Google Hacking Google Hacking is the art of creating complex search queries in order to gather information of the target system. Google is the primary tool used for Google hacking. Advanced Google operators are used to filter information. Google hacking database identifies files containing password, sensitive directories, vulnerable web pages, error messages containing sensitive information, pages containing firewall logs etc Figure 3: Google advanced search option Basics of Google Hacking Below are some of the basic ways Google is used for hacking Directory Listing Attack: Webpage often accidentally displays files and directories that exist on the web server when top level index file is missing or invalid as directory listing is not taken care of. Most of the times they do not prevent users from downloading files or accessing sensitive information without authorization. Locating directory listing in Google is very straight forward. A query of Intitle: Index.of is the universal search for directory listing Figure 4: Google hacking for Directory Listing An attacker can make use of this information to access sensitive information of the application. Information Disclosure Error messages can disclose a lot of sensitive information about the target like the operating system, network architecture, user information etc. A query of intitle: error fetched 4,070,000 results Figure 5: Google hacking for Information Disclosure Below is the error message displayed by an application. Figure 6: Error message displayed from Google hacking query The error message reveals sensitive information about the target system such as the application is built in asp.net, IIS 4.0, MYSQL database. An attacker can now launch attacks that are vulnerable to these technologies. Sensitive Information: Here are some of the Google search syntaxs to crawl for Sensitive information such as passwords filetype: xls inurl: password.xls -Looks for username and password in ms excel format. intitle: Index of master.passwd -index the master password page index of / backup- Looks for the index backup file on server) intitle: index.of passwd.bak Looks for the index backup password files. intitle: Index of pwd.db- Looks for database password files inurl: user.xls intext: password- Looks for url that save username and passwords in spread sheet files Site Digger, which explores Googles cache to look for susceptibilities ,errors, security loopholes on website and Gooscan which automates queries against Google search engine are some of the other tools used for Google hacking. Certified Ethical Hacker Certification Course (CEH) CEH is the professional certification provided by the international council E-Commerce consultants (EC-Council). Figure 6: CEH Process Apart from EC council, there are other certified hacking course taken by some well known Hackers like Ankit Fadia Certified Ethical Hacker (AFCEH) and also some other vendors like karROX Certified Ethical Hacker Course. Ethical Hacking Services As part of ethical hacking services, Penetration testing which is nothing but creating a real life hacking scenario and trying to break into the system is offered by various vendors. Different tools, technique and methodologies are used to gain entry into that application. The service offered could be either a black box testing (where only the application URL is given) or a grey box testing (where a dummy user account with least privilege is created for the pen testers).Penetration testing will be carried over by a team of dedicated ethical hackers. Some of the key benefits of penetration testing are Find security loopholes which cannot be found through functional testing. Identify business logic flaws which cannot be detected by Code Review. Real world simulation of hacking thereby revealing soft targets for possible attacks. Meet Regulatory Compliance like PCI, HIPAA, GLBA and ISO regulatory compliance. Reduction in web application development security flaws. Development of effective mitigation strategies based on your specific environment The Pen test report provides recommended remediations for the identified attack. Follows the industry standards for security such as OWASP TOP 10 and SANS 25. Commercial tools like Cenzic, Acunetix, and IBM Rational Appscan are some of the widely used tools for Pen Test. Social Engineering Testing is offered as complementary service by some vendors which tests the organizations human firewall by gaining access to an organization and its assets by tricking key personnel over communications medium such as telephone, email, chat, bulletin boards, etc. Acknowledgement Vikram ðŸË⺠Related Knowledge Briefs or References Have to check. Summary In recent times Web applications are the target of various forms of attacks. According to a Gartner report 70% of the security attacks are targeted on the web application. Competition is so high that enterprises cant ignore the risk associated with their vulnerable application. Loss incurred could vary from monetary losses to loss of credibility. In certain cases it could mean end of business. You cannot stop an attacker from hacking, the only thing you can do is make it harder to get in. Ethical hackers are the security professionals who use their hacking skills for defensive purpose. The process of ethical hacking would depend on, what is that organization is trying to protect, against whom and how much or resources the organization is ready to spend. The hacking tools are meant for research and educational purpose only and should not be used for destructive purpose. The Causes of Crime Essay -- Crime Violence Criminology Essays
The causes of crime seem to be indefinite and ever changing. In the 19th century, slum poverty was blamed; in the 20th century, a childhood without love was blamed (Adams 152). In the era going into the new millennium, most experts and theorists have given up all hope in trying to pinpoint one single aspect that causes crime. Many experts believe some people are natural born criminals who are born with criminal mindsets, and this is unchangeable. However, criminals are not a product of heredity. They are a product of their environment and how they react to it. This may seem like a bogus assumption, but is undoubtedly true. There is a study devoted to finding the causes of crime and what makes people criminals. This study is appropriately called criminology. There are two main theories which criminologists categorize causes of crime, and sometimes an individual would be subject to both their influences. Theories in the first group locate the causes of crime inside the individual, which focus on stress and other psychological factors. Conversely, theories categorized in the second group focus the causes of crime on factors that are out of the control of the certain individual. These influences are sociological. Some psychologists theorize that criminals are born with a predisposition towards mental illness. Even though this is a widely accepted idea, for a mental illness to come out, it has to be catalyzed by the person's environment. In other words, even if a person were born with the biological makings of a criminal, depending on how he was raised and how he lived life would determine if this inherent attribute would manifest. There needs to be an external cause to trigger the characteristic. Many criminologists are stuck on developing biological explanations to the make-up of criminals. These theories are often called "bad seed" theories. They hold that criminals are born and not developed. The most recently discovered "bad seed" theory is that some men are born with an extra Y chromesone that makes them more aggressive (Adams 157). The problem with this theory is if one of these men with the extra chromosome was raised in a way that would inhibit the individual's trait, you would never see the characteristics of this extra chromosome and it would just devalue this theory. Another problem with this theory is that there are criminals who just happen to ... ...ves them the confidence they need to continue their criminal behavior without fear of getting caught. And there are enough people in a city that no matter how you act; you could find people just like you. If you have a tendency to get in trouble a lot, you could easily find someone to encourage your actions. A social status, whether you like it or not, can drag you into or out of a life of crime. A dead-broke bum with no house is forced to steal food in order to stay alive, and steal clothing in order to stay warm. Of course, you could suffer and not break any laws, but the immediate need would usually outweigh the consequences. You may not be literally forced into a life of crime, but it just might be the best choice you have. Being in such need makes stealing seem much more attractive than it would if you had no need to steal. As stated in the preceding paragraphs, criminals are influenced and not born. You can easily infer this on your own, but with the help of this report it seems much more obvious. The most obvious and consistent influence in the development of a person seems to be the environment in which they live in and the influence, or lack thereof, of their parents.

Cholesterol: A Patient Conversation Essay
Hello Mr. Brown, My name is Jane and I am your PA today otherwise known as a Physicianââ¬â¢s Assistant. The doctor had ordered some test for you and I am going to go over your results and explain to you what each of them mean. If you have any questions please feel free to stop me at any time. First we will start off with your Triglyceride level and it was 145 mg/dl. Your Triglycerides is fat in the blood and they are used to provide energy to your body and they are the main form of fat in your body (WebMD, 2014). Your levels are considered desirable meaning they are not very high, however we would like to see them a little lower. The second test that was given was to check your cholesterol and your levels were 210 mg/dl and that is considered borderline high. Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance made in the liver and other cells. Mr. Brown if your Cholesterol is too high and it is it can cause heart problems (WebMD, 2014). The last set of test was to check your LDL and HDL le vels. LDL or Low density lipoproteins is known as bad cholesterol because it can cause plaque buildup on the walls of arteries and the more LDL you have in your blood then the great the risk of heart disease. Your LDL levels were 160 mg/dl and that is considered high, a more normal range should be below 130 mg/dl. HDL or High density lipoproteins are known as good cholesterol and it helps the body get rid of LDL. Your HDL levels were 33 mg/dl and that is considered to be poor. If your HDL levels are low then your risk for heart disease goes up (WebMD, 2014). Mr. Brown there are many factors that play a role for having high cholesterol and some of those you can control and others you canââ¬â¢t. For example, the ones you canââ¬â¢t control are your genetics or family history. The ones that are within your control are inactivity, obesity, and an un-healthy diet. There are many treatments for reducing your high cholesterol like changing your diet or medication. I would like to suggest that you change your lifestyle before you are put on regular medication to control your cholesterol. I know this is something that is of no interest to you because you stated you didnââ¬â¢t want to chang e your lifestyle, however, even if youà are prescribed medications you will still have to make a change to the way you are currently living. Let me tell you the side effects of the medication used to treat high cholesterol. I just want to let you know that tolerance of medications vary from person to person. ââ¬Å"The common side effects are muscle pains, stomach pain, constipation, nausea, and diarrheaâ⬠(Mayo Clinic, 2014). Mr. Brown I am sure you are wondering if the benefits of lowering your cholesterol outweighs the risk of taking medication and yes they do. Statins are known as a group of drugs that inhibits the synthesis of cholesterol and promotes the production of LDL and decreases the levels of HDL. These pills may cause a small increase in weight gain and blood sugar which can also increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes, however, they will also prevent you from having a heart attack and stroke so in the long run you would be better off to make simple lifestyle changes and take medication. If you choose not to take medication to help control your cholesterol then there are some other options we can look at. To start off you could change your diet because many foods such as eggs, beef, pork, and cheese will raise your cholesterol. You could try to maintain your weight by exercising more, donââ¬â¢t miss annual physicals with your physician, and quit smoking (Health Media Ventures, 2014). Mr. Brown I can reassure you that we can help you get your cholesterol under control. There are many things as I have said that can be done to help lower your cholesterol and help keep it lowered. I know this is a lot to take in at once but Iââ¬â¢m not only here as your PA but also as a friend. If you would like additional information then I can send papers home with you so you can get a better understanding of what is going on and how you can control it. There are many options out there for you but you have to take the first step towards making this change. All I can do is be here for you and share my knowledge with you. I donââ¬â¢t want you to think that I am trying to drastically change your life style or make you do so. There are simple things that can be done to help lower your cholesterol and prevent you from someday having a heart attack. So here are some things I recommend you to do in order to lower your cholesterol eat more soluble fiber and that is found in foods lik e beans, fruits, oatmeal, and vegetables. Eat less fat and fewer foods like meats and dairy products, exercise at least 30 minutes a day on most days of the week, and lose weight. Mr. Brown if I were you I would try these simple changesà to begin with and if doesnââ¬â¢t seem like those changes are working then we can try medications to help lower your cholesterol, but like I said before you will still have to interpret exercise and eating healthy into your daily diet. I know it will be hard at first but with the help of family, friends, and health care providers I know you can do this. I want to be honest with you Mr. Brown, it is important that you make these necessary lifestyle changes in order to live a longer healthier life. Iââ¬â¢m not sure if you have a wife, children, or grandchildren but wouldnââ¬â¢t they be worth it to make these few changes in your life? The fact is if you donââ¬â¢t make these necessary changes then you donââ¬â¢t have any other options and you are putting yourself at risk for a heart attack or possibly a stroke, then your wife will be left without a husband, your children without a father, and grandchildren without a papaw. So Mr. Brown you need to ask your self is it worth it? References WebMD. (2014). Cholesterol Basics: Types, Risk Factors, Levels, and Treatment. Supriya Panjiyar Essays - Organ Donation, Medical Ethics, Medicine
Supriya Panjiyar Essays - Organ Donation, Medical Ethics, Medicine Supriya Panjiyar Professor Cherry English 1302-71016 13 September 2017 A Summary of Elisabeth Bletsch "Will Part of You Be Left Behind?" In Elisabeth Bletsch's essay, "W ill Part of You Be Left Behind? " she claims that many people do not register themselves as an organ donor . There are two simple reasons for it . First, people do not like to admit the fact that they will die someday which is inevitable and the second reason is people simply do not have time to go and register themsel ves as an organ donor. Since Bletsch lost her brother who had registered himself as an organ donor. She understands the importance of it. When we die our body becomes no good to us but if we register ourselves for organ donation, it could save someone's life. That is why Ble t sch appeals her readers to go and register for organ d onation because there are not many people who register themselve for organ donation and it has become a matter of conce rn. Becoming an organ donor is beneficial to other people in many ways because it gives other's life through your own. A P raraphrase of Elisabeth Ble t sch's "Will Parts of You Be Left B ehind?" In her essay "Will parts of you be lef t behind?" Elisabeth Blesch claims that not enough people put themselves forward or register themselves for organ donation. Even though people know that organ donation can be very significant in saving someone's life it has no t been considered important. Bletsch recommends that everyone should register to be organ donors. Since Bletsch and her family has been through similar situation after her brother died, she kn ows how important and vital organ donation can be. She recalls in her essay how she felt when her brother had declared that he was going to be an organ donor. After her brother's demise she came into realization of how important organ donation can be because parts of her brother continued to live on in someone else's body although he was dead. Bletsch's brother inspired her to become an organ donor . So as soon as she turned eighteen she registered herself as an organ donor. Our body parts such as tissues, eyes, skin, valves, etc . becomes of no use to us when we die. Our bodies are either burned or b uried and every part of us gets vanished after we die. W hen we register ourselves for organ donation we assure that some parts of our body continues to live on . People are dying every day. Some are dying because they do not get the necessary organ they needed for survival and some people die without leaving any parts of them in the world. The fact is people are dying either way. Even one person can save a dozen people's life if they choose to put themselves forward for organ donation. Many people fear the fact that death is inevitable and choose to ignore it. Hence, that is one of the reasons why people do not register the mselves for organ donation. People simply do not want to accept t he fact that death is a part of life and people can die any day. What people do no t understand by not registering for organ donation is that they are taking away that little chance of life from people who are waiting for an organ trans plant . Another reason why people do not go and register themselves as organ donor is simply because they do no t have time for it. People are so caught up in their own lives that they forget to stop and think about what would happen if he/she died someday? They should consider the fact that they would still be helpful to someone even after their death. Organ donation should be considered by everyone. It is one of the most unselfish act a person can do to save other person's life. Being an organ donor has never hurt anyone, in fact it gives a chance for someone else to live and our body part continues to live with in that person even though we

Inside Caligari and The Last Laugh essays
Inside Caligari and The Last Laugh essays The films, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and The Last Laugh were very important films. They opened new doors to cinema. They showed the world that films dont have to leave you feeling really good about life and the world we live in. By this I mean that the two films listed above tell the viewers about the power people posses and the misuse of that power. There are different ways to misuse power; the rich take power for granted, and in Caligaris case, well, he madly misuses his status as the head doctor of the asylum. My basic idea for this essay is to show that power is derived from different sources; money, status, attitude, and appearance, however, that power isnt always used for the best purposes. The films use expressionistic devices to support my thesis in ways that compare to and appose one another. In Caligari there were several instances where expressionism was used. The set of Caligari was the first obvious expressionistic device used. The shadows on the set were perfect for the somnambulist Cesare to stalk his unsuspecting victims. He gained control of all of his prey by using the set to blend and then emerge with element of surprise. He had a dark, unrealistic look that fit in with the dark shadows that were sometimes painted onto the set. Cesares victims had nowhere to hide, however, he had everywhere to hide. Basically the set portrayed the atmosphere of the movie; black, warped, and fairly unrealistic. The slanted buildings and the painted backdrops and walkways gave the viewer the initial sense of something wrong in their midst. The Last Laugh didnt try to make the viewer feel awkward, but it did use its set to give the viewer a strong shift in emotion. At the beginning the doorman was on top of the world in his position, but after he was unable to peform his duties, he was demoted to the bathroom attendant. Here the set takes on the unrealistic form. The bathro...
